Israel at Eurosatory 2008:
Transforming Land Forces and Security
Israel's unique security reality has challenged its technological capabilities to counter manifold threat situations in constantly changing scenarios.
While the Israeli armed forces are relatively small, they are equipped with advanced weapon systems and technologies that create highly effective force multipliers – vital to its survival. Israel relies on its defense industries to design, develop, upgrade and produce the widest array of high-technology defense systems, thus maintaining its qualitative advantage over potential adversaries. Such systems address many contingencies, covering an impressive spectrum of advanced military technology: full-scale high-intensity conflict, low-intensity conflict, homeland security, counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist activity.
Israel's defense exports have continuously expanded in recent years due to worldwide recognition of their quality. Israeli defense systems are used by many of the world’s armed forces, including the United States and countries of Europe, Asia and Latin America. This remarkable growth is propelled by unprecedented cooperation between governments and Israeli industries. Israel's defense exports are backed by extensive logistical, training and technological support, with substantial technology transfer, enabling customers to leverage their investments.
Examples of such technologies and systems are displayed at Eurosatory 2008. Among them are netcentric technologies and command and control, communications and computers for land forces, providing full integration between sensors and shooters. Such concepts have been implemented in many aspects of modern warfare, highlighting advanced intelligence collection, processing and dissemination. They include high- and low-intensity conflict operability, advanced protection systems based on active and passive technologies, precision engagement capability and effects-based weaponry.
The challenges of urban warfare and LIC have been successfully met by Israeli defense industries, providing significant solutions for complex close-in combat situations. New designs in personal survival equipment, advanced sensors, modern firearms and advanced combat suits for the modern warrior are now offered as fully integrated systems.
